Green Cleaning Recipes for Kitchen Counters

According to some house cleaning specialists the kitchen is the dirtiest room in a house. No matter if it is the dirtiest or the cleanest, it has to be cleaned.

The countertops in the kitchen are the spots where most of the dirt accumulates. They have to be cleaned as often as possible, or even better every time we do something on them. The thing is though, we should not use detergents based on chemicals. After all we cook and eat our food there, we cannot afford to spill something toxic in it. That is why professional house cleaning companies recommend the use of natural cleaning products when it's up to countertops and other surfaces in the kitchen. Here are some easy-to-prepare recipes:

  • Mix baking soda and water until you prepare a thick paste. Use this paste to remove dry stains, baked-on grease and other spots from the counters. If the stains are fresh you can sprinkle the baking soda on them and wipe with a damp cloth. This solution is also appropriate for cleaning stainless sinks, refrigerators, ovens, microwaves and others.
  • If you want to disinfect the countertops of your kitchen, prepare a solution of two cups of water, about 30 drops of tea tree oil and three tablespoons of liquid soap. Spray on countertops and other surfaces in your kitchen.
  • Vinegar/water solution also does a good job when you want to disinfect something. Vinegar is strong enough to kill all kinds of germs and bacteria.

So, as easy as it sounds you can clean your countertops and your whole kitchen with the mentioned above solution. Follow the advice of house cleaning companies and never use toxic detergents in your kitchen.
