Remove Lipstick Stains from Fabric

Lipstick is an oil-based product that leaves stains that are not only unsightly but also very tough to remove. Purchasing a commercial cleaner specified for removing lipstick stain may not worth the investment as you hardly will use it more than once or twice. You can successfully get rid of a lipstick stain from fabric by following these simple steps below.

Instructions
  1. Pour denatured alcohol on flipped edge of a soft, white cloth. Use the cloth to gently dab at the stained area to remove as much of the lipstick stain as possible.
  2. Apply a few drops of liquid dish-washing detergent to the problematic spot and use your finger to rub it into the stain.
  3. If the stain is stubborn, use a stain stick over the spot before laundering the fabric.
  4. Wash the garment as following the care instructions provided by the manufacturer. Leave the cloth to air dry. Do not use the dryer as this can cause the stain to set in if your first try to remove it is unsuccessful.
  5. If you fail remove the lipstick stain, consider asking professionals, such as cleaners Battersea, for help.
If you don't have alcohol on hand when a lipstick stain occurs on your cloth, leave it undisturbed until you get home. If you need to remove it immediately, try blotting it with cold water. Remember always to blot lipstick stains as rubbing can spread the stain on clean areas of the fabric.
Cleaners Battersea recommends taking the fabric to professionals if it is dry clean only. Any pretreatment can cause irreversible damage and the dry cleaner may not be able to remove the lipstick stain.
