Like many of you I thought choosing the
perfect carpet is an easy task. Well guess what it is hard. You have
to take in mind a lot of things like amount of traffic, moisture,
price, cleaning etc. I wanted the best for my home therefore I made
quite the research. For all you homeowners, I tried to go through the
commonly used materials in carpet manufacturing. In my other posts I
explained the benefits of having a carpet made from natural fibers
and it is time to look at synthetic ones.

Different Types Of Carpets - Part 2
Last time I started talking about
different types of carpet fibers
and how to choose the perfect mat for your home. Each type has
specific qualities and is appropriate for different part of the
house. I managed to explain about wool and bamboo.
We're going to continue with some more natural materials. It is
important to have a green home and having such carpet is one step
closer to achieve that.
Silk
Silk is the
product of larvae. It is actually the cocoon of the Bombyx mori. I
won't go deep into the subject, after all we're talking about
carpets, not insects. Silk has always been associated with beauty and
elegance. Again we have hand weaving, which makes these carpets and
rugs so valuable and expensive. Silk is one of the strongest natural
fibers and it has a soft non-slippery texture. Unfortunately moist
ruins it, therefore it is not appropriate for wet places.
